Poultry farms are where chickens and turkeys live and grow. These farms function as large ecological niches for the birds in their care, and in return farmers are able to produce the very food humans consume. On every farm, there is a silo: a high cylindrical building that looks like a gigantic metal tower.
Every single day farmers require loads of food to feed their chickens. The silo closes down like a giant lunchbox to keep chicken food safe and dry. What would it be if you had to eat food pamperd or dirty Chickens feel the same way. A well-built silo keeps moisture out, protects the food from wind and even little bugs that might like to nibble on it.
There are various types of silos available for farmers to select. Some are made of super-duper strong metal that won't get rusty. These metal towers have the capability to store an incredible volume of food, with some capable of store upwards of 10,000 lbs! That’s the equivalent of five standard cars full of chicken feed. May you never know a shred of that kind of hunger, and may you never imagine that much food in one place.
For farmers, maintaining the silo is crucial. This is similar to checking your backpack to see if everything is clean, to check our silo regularly. Farmers have to clean the silos so that bad germs and gross mold doesn't grow on the inside. A clean silo keeps the chickens healthy and happy.
When farmers have good silo, they get to buy food less frequently. This saves them money and precious time. The birds are allowed to eat into something fresh, clean, convertible food — one which makes them big and powerful. Some chickens on the farm lay eggs and some are grown so people can eat them.
These magical towers are called silos, and they help farmers look after their chickens. They guard the food and ensure the birds are getting everything they need to grow. Without a good silo, it sure is hard to keep chickens healthy.
I mean really, a silo is kind of a big deal — it’s like one big, beefy house just for the chicken food. Farmers labor tirelessly and even the silo is one of their most important tools. It keeps food safe, dry and available for the chickens to eat.
